Hello,
Again after a long time I thought of writing a blog :). Actually I just read an article in The Times of India about the World wide discrimination among men and women, fair and dark all sorts of issues.. I was scanning through the sports newz and suddenly landed on this article. No, I will not discuss about the article, but after reading this my mind is filled up with lot of questions, thoughts and feelings..
Be it East or West there is always a discrimination between every single thing irrespective of how miniscule it may be. I am not grudging, neither I want to say how it can be wiped off.. But I want to make the point that though we have progressed a lot in science and technology still we are not able to think in the direction of science.. If we consider sports, let it be Olympics or in WorldCups even in tennis tournaments like Wimbledon till date theres a difference of prize money between women and men athletes!! But this discrimination doesn't stops here. It goes on.. a person with fairer skin gets treated differently in most part of the world.. I have seen many Indian taxi drivers or rickshaw drivers even the traffic police persons behave differently with a White foreign national from European countries and with tourists from African countries.. Week before the last week I was in Mysore.. I was alarmed to see all the guides were running behind a group of French nationals but were hardly caring about 3-4 so called "black" tourists from some African countries..
Many experts give many comments.. how it can be wiped off!! what are the root causes, but anyone hardly knows about this.. It is a practice going on for centuries. It has been like a habbit for centuries. It will take time probably another century to wipe out the whole thing. Atleast some people has started to think positively. Slowly the number will increase. Oneday every one will start thinking the right way. Let's hope for it..
Once in an interview Swami Vivekananda was asked, What makes a country stronger? His reply was, Education. Women and men are like two wings of a bird. If both wings are "equally" strong the bird can fly higher and this strentgth will come from proper education to both men and women. That was the thinking of Swamiji.. I wonder how can a person a dark skinned person that too in 1890 from a country like India which was still to be freed from the Britishers was treated like a King exactly like Jesus Christ in the United States of America and European countries like England. What happend to all the bias the people had then?? Whenever I think of this I get a feel to explore more and more into the life of this great man. Who knows may be from his life a real solution can come out..
cheers
